A San Antonio police officer has been shot dead in his patrol car while writing a traffic ticket outside police headquarters.

Detective Benjamin Marconi, 50, was sitting behind the wheel of his vehicle when a man pulled up behind him in a black car in downtown San Antonio on Sunday.

A red-light camera photo that shows an unidentified person dressed as the Grinch in a sheriff’s patrol car roll through a red light in the Inland Empire is part of a civil lawsuit that alleges a deputy illegally blew through the light to snap a souvenir picture.

The Dec. 2013 photograph, which shows a costumed person waving at the camera as they blow through a red light in Victorville, was presented in court Monday as part of an ongoing civil trial involving the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.

When Missouri Highway Patrol trooper Jim Thuss witnessed a fiery crash last week, hospital he knew he had to get the driver out quickly.

“I’ve worked enough crashes to know that if there’s fire already, the whole vehicle eventually will go up,” Thuss recalled Wednesday. “I just hoped I could get her out of there in time.”

People are calling him a hero and a lifesaver after he pulled 60-year-old Becky Crawford of Belton from her 2015 Honda Civic right before flames engulfed her car on Feb. 2.

A suspect has been arrested in the shooting death of Eastman Police patrolman Tim Smith on Saturday night.

The suspect, site 24-year-old Royheem Delshawn Deeds, treat was arrested in Nassau County, pharm Florida.

According to USA Today, “The Georgia Bureau of Investigation [GBI] said Smith, 31, was killed when he got out of his patrol car and confronted the suspect while responding to a 911 call about 9:30 p.m. Saturday.”

A statement from GBI makes clear that Smith was responding to a “suspicious persons” call and was shot as he “exited his patrol car to investigate.” Although the wound proved fatal, Smith was able to return fire as the suspect fled.
